What our clients say

"Steve was a fantastic trainer. knowledgeable, patient, and explained everything clearly. He made the course enjoyable and really helped build my confidence in inspection and testing. I’d highly recommend him to anyone taking the LCL course. Thanks for all your support!"
Peter H. - Google Review
"I was absolutely thrilled when I was accepted into Kelly Energy’s training facility. Being profoundly deaf, I was initially nervous about training and communication. The staff immediately took extra steps to provide me support, such as one-to-one training and a direct communication method, which was crucial. If it wasn’t for their support, I would’ve struggled massively, but the facility gave me everything I needed to pass the course."
Callum Garvin
Electrical Delegate
"Romy delivered the Cookers Assessment amazingly, and would recommend coming here for any training for tradesmen and new entrants"
Dayyan K. - Google Review
"Before this course I was doing scaffolding and wanted a different career path. The course has been top notch from day one — we went out for practical work and then came back to see how we were getting on. The hands-on training was explained clearly, and all the staff were there to help if we needed anything. It’s a long-term investment in yourself and gives you a career in electrics, which is the way forward."
Alex Midgley-Newton
Electrical & Renewable Delegate
"I have had a fantastic training to gain back my Gas qualification here. Friendly, very professional and supportive environment! Can definitely recommend!"
Fabian W. - Google
"I moved into renewables because it’s the way the future’s going. It’s security for your career, and at the same time you’re helping make the environment better. You’re giving free energy to people through solar panels and helping the movement into electric vehicles. The course has been fantastic. It’s enjoyable, and the hands-on training is the best way to learn. The trainers explain things really well and help you understand exactly the work that you’re doing."
Inis Lame

"Absolutely brilliant experience and Steve is a credit to the company"
Gary C. - Google Review
"The staff and trainers are the best — they’ll always help you out with anything you’re struggling on. Even if you’ve never picked up a screwdriver in your life, it’s easy to work with. The course gives you basic electrics skills that open up so many options, and you feel confident working on solar systems by the end."

FAQs

What types of training courses does Kelly Energy Training offer?

+

Kelly Energy Training offers industry-focused training across Electrical, Gas, Renewable Energy, Water, Smart Metering and Streetworks.

Our courses include entry-level and foundation qualifications, advanced electrical training, Inspection & Testing, gas safety and ACS assessments, renewable energy technologies, smart metering and utility-sector training.

Whether you're starting a new career, renewing an existing qualification or developing specialist skills, you can explore training options designed around different levels of experience and progression.

I'm new to the industry, which course should I start with?

+

If you're completely new to the industry, the right starting point will depend on the career path you want to follow.

Electrical – Start with our Electrical Training Pathway to explore the journey from foundational electrical training through to workplace competence, recognised qualifications, and specialist skills.

Electrical Training Pathway →

Gas – Start with our Gas Engineering Pathway to understand how the Managed Learning Programme, supervised workplace experience and ACS assessments can support your progression into the gas industry.

Can I become a gas engineer with no previous experience?

+

Yes. There are training routes available for people with little or no previous gas industry experience, but becoming competent to undertake gas work involves structured training, practical experience, and assessment rather than simply completing a short course.

The LCL Awards Gas Managed Learning Programme (MLP) provides a structured route for new entrants, combining centre-based theory and practical training with supervised workplace experience.

During the programme, you'll develop your gas engineering knowledge and practical skills while building a portfolio of workplace evidence under appropriate supervision. Successful completion enables you to progress towards ACS Initial Assessments and continue your journey towards Gas Safe registration, subject to meeting the relevant requirements.

Can I train to become an electrician with no previous experience?

+

Yes. There are training routes available for people who are new to the electrical industry and want to build the knowledge and practical skills needed to start an electrical career.

For complete beginners, the City & Guilds Level 2 Diploma in Electrical Installations (2365-02) provides a strong foundation in electrical science, health and safety, wiring systems, installation methods and practical electrical skills.

From there, learners can progress into further Level 3 training and workplace competence depending on their experience and career goals. The City & Guilds Level 3 Electrotechnical Qualification (5357) is one route for those working towards installation or maintenance electrician roles.

Do I need to be a qualified electrician to take renewable energy courses?

+

No. Our electrical renewable energy courses are not designed as entry-level electrical qualifications, and learners must meet the relevant entry requirements before enrolling.

For courses such as Solar PV, Battery Storage and EV Charging, learners will typically need a current Level 3 Award in the Requirements for Electrical Installations (BS 7671 – 18th Edition) alongside a recognised Level 3 electrotechnical qualification, relevant apprenticeship qualification, experienced-worker qualification or accepted equivalent.

A current ECS Gold Card in an accepted electrical occupation may also provide an eligible route, depending on the qualification.

If you're interested in developing your skills in renewable technologies, explore our Renewable Energy Training Pathway to understand the available courses, entry requirements and progression opportunities.
